Thomas Milburn, a student in Berkshire, England, has written a nifty PHP program that generates a red/cyan color anaglyph from any two photos you upload from an HTML form.
(Although, being English, Milburn might prefer the spellings "nifftea," "programme," "colour," "anaglypghchestershire," and "formme.")
His Anaglyph Creator works just fine -- and even better, he has provided all the source code, and explained its functioning with detailed notes.
I thought the perfect image to test his script would be this stereo photograph from the surface of Mars, taken June 23, 2008, by NASA's Phoenix lander. His script output this anaglyph image:
The Phoenix lander sends a continual stream of stereo photos from the Martian surface, available online from NASA's website. The photos are in pairs -- a left and a right image for each view -- just right for Milburn's gizmo. (Also, like almost all documents created by the U.S. government, these photos are all in the public domain.)
